Bittorf has extensive experience in product development and manufacturing scale-up for a wide range of personal care, OTC, generic and prescription medications including many different dosage forms. Kevin led the formulation development for Incivek, Vertex’s oral treatment for hepatitis C, a drug that holds the record for the fastest achievement of $1Bn in sales. In this role Kevin utilized a “Quality by Design” (QbD) framework by which Vertex develops all of its medicines, to ensure a robust product and process. As part of this process Kevin introduced multiple real-time analytical technologies into the laboratory and commercial manufacturing, to achieve process robustness when tight specifications were required. Kevin has been an innovator in each position he has filled, most recently designing a continuous processing initiative for Vertex Pharmaceuticals’ products.

Kevin’s current role at Living proof (Vice President of Process Development, Analytical Technologies and Quality Assurance) has him responsible for expanding overall understanding of Living proof’s products and processes; completing this through a quality by design (QbD) framework and developing advanced analytical technologies to assist in understanding both chemical and physical analytical mechanisms in the hair and skin lines. His team leads various product lines though scale-up, commercial manufacturing, continuous improvement and quality assurance. Kevin received his PhD in Chemical Engineering and his MBA from the University of Alberta.[/learn_more]
