Simulation of tabletting and the real-world payoff

Instrumented presses have been around since the 1950’s and compaction simulators from the 1970’s.   These key tools are needed to guide good formulation design and process development.  This is to ensure that from a production manufacturing perspective, robust products are developed which can ensure reliable supply to the patient.

This presentation will show how careful collection of simulation data has directly paid off in better product design and formulations.   In addition examples will be shown and discussed comparing predictions from simulators to long term performance of products in commercial manufacture.   The emerging role of instrumentation and simulators in assisting with the development and  characterisation of continuous processing will also be discussed.
